I am Al Todaro, an Ontario-licensed architect practising as A Todaro Architect in the Greater Toronto Area.

I came up through the work itself: intern architect, architect, associate architect, and then project coordinator, first with a contractor and then with an owner. At this stage I concentrate on assisting small and medium design and construction teams with small and medium sized projects. Architectural services are provided only through this practice.

​

As an architect I learned how a drawing becomes a building: the decisions that have to be made early, and the ones that can wait. As a member of a construction team I learned the site, the schedule, and what the documents have to survive once work is underway. As a member of a client team I learned what an owner actually needs from the people designing and building the work.

​

Throughout my career I have been fortunate to work with many fine architects, designers, engineers, builders, trades, students, and interns. A great deal of what I know came from them.

​

That is the experience I bring now. Not a large office, and not a single building type. A person who has sat on the design side, the construction side, and the client side, and who can help a smaller team keep a smaller project moving.

I am a member of the Ontario Association of Architects and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. I studied at George Brown College, Angelo Del Zotto School of Construction Management, and I hold a CanBIM Legacy Certificate.
